Questions of a musical nature
Shannon mentioned me over at her site, when answering these questions … I’ve never done one before so why not eh?
Total amount of music files on your computer:
3912
The last CD you bought was:
Augie March - Moo, you bloody choir
What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?
Some “The Cure” song, I’m not really a fan, i think it was “Friday I’m in Love”. Funnily enough it was a guy named Marcel who was playing it too.
Write down 5 songs you often listen to (at the moment) or that mean a lot to you (at the moment):
In no particular order;
Gold Lion - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Stranger Strange - Augie March
Stained Glass Eye - Elliott Smith
Chicago - Sufjan Stevens
Evening On The Ground (Lilith’s Song) - Iron & Wine
Who are you going to pass this stick to? (4 persons) and why?
Mainly because I think I only know four “bloggers”:
- Clint
- Lee
- Orangepoweredwristwatch (you could do it here as a comment)
- Algy (you too could do it here as a comment. Go on, you know you want to.)
Anyone else? (Will & Live you both should) if you read this and feel like telling me about what you are listening to, do it. I like listening to recommendations.

Music used for evil instead of Good.

Not familiar with the nationals….but wanted to add a ? of my own…
One for the Ryan Adams afficionados (spelling?!?):
I read an article which mentioned his “Love Is Hell” album (which I found to be a real grower, incidentally), which apparently was written in England in 2003. The writer said it was very reminiscient of The Smiths. Any thoughts on this…. is this a valid comparison, or, as I believe, is the writer making a connection which he wishes to be true (“Argument over Morrissey”- living in England - etc etc)? Am I being too uncharitable?

reminiscenct of oasis perhaps!
well there is a “strummy” 80’s rock sound going on- is that the smiths connection?

Yes, I think that may be it…I think I may have fallen victim to my usual “Listen to some songs and not the whole album” procedure. The twangy melodic guitar in “Does anybody want to take me home” does have a real Johnny Marr feel. I had mainly listened to the second half of the album, which didn’t seem at all Smiths-like.
BTW I do really like the Wonderwall cover!!

With apologies to Mark Twain: “The report of QOAMN’s death was an exaggeration!”

Yes….!!! I was going to mention “does anybody want to take me home” EXACTLY,mainly that the singing and the content is a bit
morrisseyish — but its on Rock’n’Roll not Love is Hell.
(Arguement concerning Ryan Adams concerning Morrissey!!??)
Apparently Noel G congratualated Ryan on Wonderwall and admitted they “could never quite get it right”. yawn…
