Questions of a musical nature
Shannon mentioned me over at her site, when answering these questions … I’ve never done one before so why not eh?
Total amount of music files on your computer:
3912
The last CD you bought was:
Augie March - Moo, you bloody choir
What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?
Some “The Cure” song, I’m not really a fan, i think it was “Friday I’m in Love”. Funnily enough it was a guy named Marcel who was playing it too.
Write down 5 songs you often listen to (at the moment) or that mean a lot to you (at the moment):
In no particular order;
Gold Lion - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Stranger Strange - Augie March
Stained Glass Eye - Elliott Smith
Chicago - Sufjan Stevens
Evening On The Ground (Lilith’s Song) - Iron & Wine
Who are you going to pass this stick to? (4 persons) and why?
Mainly because I think I only know four “bloggers”:
- Clint
- Lee
- Orangepoweredwristwatch (you could do it here as a comment)
- Algy (you too could do it here as a comment. Go on, you know you want to.)
Anyone else? (Will & Live you both should) if you read this and feel like telling me about what you are listening to, do it. I like listening to recommendations.

I was driving down in my porsche carrera to one of my many holiday beach houses at Portsea with incredible views of the bay last sunday and I listened to the news on the radio (great sound system) in this car I digress, about of the plight of the homeless in our city of Melbourne and other places around the earth. I felt a weltschertz in my car and I thought what can I do about this situation? Then the penny dropped as a opsimath………………… to be continued
Skip, have you heard “moving around in stereo” by the Cars?

thank you, realistic for your advice but the RACV couldn’t deal with my weltschmertz.. However as a opsimath I did find the antiphony of lou reed’s live version of “sweet jane” helped in these situations……….
I would like to hear of other antiphonies

We might have covered this ground before - somewhere in page 12-19 - sorry if so…
But I was interested in a comment of Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) that I read yesterday, regarding his newfound contentment:
“Art can come out of anything, not just suffering…. The (tortured-artist)myth perpetuates itself in the celebrity-driven culture we live in”
I’m interested in that, as it seems to me that there is a discernible difference in the impact of certain artists’ music as they reach different phases of their life (I’m thinking Elliott Smith, Tim Rogers). Perhaps it depends on whether the personal troubles are central to their music, or incidental to the content?
