Movies
We went to the movies last night and had the great misfortune to catch “flightplan”, which really did look promising. I don’t know why i expect anything from movies these days, they are invariably crappy and i find it embarrassing to be seen sitting in a seat at the end of them.
It started out well enough, cheap tuesday, so half price movies, and for the first half this cinematic tragedy I found myself reasonably satisfied. I was a bit bewildered and a bit tense. (presumably the directors intention)
Then after an hour I found myself looking at my watch wondering where this was going to go and it was all down hill from there. The ending was poor to say the least (and i’m not going to give anything away here for those of you who may feel the need to see this peice of poo). Every single thing that happened after the big finale made me laugh outloud. (I’m dead certain that this was NOT the directors intention)
And as i walked away shaking my head, all the logical leaps that we were expected to make in order to understand what had just happend, presented themselves to me. You know, the plan would have fallen through on so many occasions it is just ridiculous. Granted that would have been a much shorter film, but a far more enjoyable one in my opinion.
On another note, Zach Braff posted a video post on his garden state blog the other day which was quite amusing. He mentions he was making a film recently with Jason Bateman (Michael from arrested development) a comedy called “fast track”. Wow! am i looking forward to this!
